WONDERWALL

Following the brand’s very first store, L/UNIFORM PARIS (Saint-Germain-des-Prés) in 2015, and L/UNIFORM TOKYO (Marunouchi) in 2019, Wonderwall was in charge of the interior design of L/UNIFORM’s flagship store that opened in Aoyama.

Taking a completely different approach from the previous stores, the new store is designed with the concept of a living space where visitors can visualize, through various scenarios, how L/UNIFORM products can become part of their daily lives. The theme of the space is “a Japanese mid-century modern home as imagined by a French designer.” The space is a mixture of modern sensibility and elements inspired by the materials, details, and coloring left behind by Junzo Yoshimura, a master of modernist architecture. By placing L/UNIFORM products into this space, we aimed to create a “pleasant incongruity” that arises as a result of juxtaposing items designed by a French brand and a backdrop designed by a Japanese architect.
