CHIUnE, a restaurant led by owner-chef Satoshi Furuta, is located on the basement floor of NOT A HOTEL HIROO, a new five-story building with one basement level, designed by Wonderwall.
The concept of the restaurant, which serves "innovative fusion" style cuisine and offers the best of East meets West hospitality, is "tokonoma (alcove) and fireplace". The counter and kitchen are likened to the "tokonoma" of Japanese architecture, where seasonal scrolls and flower arrangements are hung to express hospitality once in a lifetime, and the "fireplace" of Western architecture, where people gather in the peaceful atmosphere, symbolizing a meeting of cultures. As CHIUnE's cuisine, the space is a fusion of cultures and styles without associating them with any particular country or style.
