Netflix, known for video streaming and production, published an interview piece titled “Optimal Viewing Conditions” in its first print-based media “QUEUE.” We were asked to explore Pharrell Williams's idea of his optimal viewing space based on the four abstract terms mentioned in the interview: "Connected yet Isolated," "Harmony and Seamless," "Wood and Warmth," and "Water."
The concept depicts a building that sits along a coastal cliff. Traveling underground, you arrive at a small room with walls decorated in organic layers of wood. There, you remain connected to the outside world through an opening that looks as if a side of the cliff had been shaven off by the waves, while the calming effects of natural light and sound also inspire you to turn inward and connect to your true self. This is “Earth Womb,” a place where you can enjoy art (film) in a state of pure and balanced concentration. It is the optimal viewing room designed by Wonderwall for Pharrell Williams.
