WONDERWALL

“THE BANK,” which was the very first project Wonderwall worked on after its founding in 2000, has reopened. The building was originally built in 1927 as the Yuigahama branch of the Kamakura Bank. The concept of this project was based on the question: “What if this was a bar, rather than a bank?” The design is rooted in an idea proposed by the late art director Kaworu Watanabe, who was also the client back in 2000. His idea was to mix “an Irish pub, Italian bar, and that classical feel of Japan back then!” After being closed for almost a year and a half, Wonderwall has taken over the management of this bar in 2016. While the former warehouse on the second floor has been converted into a living room-like lounge, the atmosphere of the original bar remains intact.
